Sioson, Jr. FELLOW CRAFT Antonio Chua Chua, SECRETARY’S JULY 2010 MESSAGE On our June 2010 SM we initiated Bro. Fortunato G. Sioson and Jason M. Saldua in the presence of a big attendance of Hiramites that witness their initiation. We welcome you two newly initiated brothers and we hope that your entrance after almost a year of waiting embedded in your hearts the patience and humility that brethren and the lodge want to impart to you. By now you must understand that Masonry is progressive moral science taught by degrees only, and that there is no rush, no push, and no short cut, because the craft is a lifetime commitment. Welcome again to the fold of the craft. INDEPENDENCE DAY: This June 12th is the 112th year of the Philippines independence. This is the day when we proclaim to the world that we are a free people, and freed from the yoke of slavery & dominion of Spain after 300 years of occupation. This marked our freedom as a sovereign nation and start of controlling our destiny. Yes, 112 years, but are we really free today? Many of us asked this question. Let us assist our country and/or our government and conveying to the world its meaning. This we can do by exercising or demonstrating to the world that we are good citizens, following the rules of the state and live within the bounds of law. If every Pilipino will do the same, then our country will be great! As a Mason, let us do it; show to our people that we Masons will start and lead again a new revolution, a revolution to be good citizens so this nation will be great again. Please be guided and govern yourself accordingly. HL-88 WIDOWS AND ORPHANS: Last June 2nd we had our HL88 Gencom Meeting attended by 10 PMs, the 3 Lights, and two invited Hiramites who had a long deliberation about taking a look for our HL-88 widows and orphans. This was started by some Hiramites in their fellowships and due to their good performance last year, the Gencom started to recognize it by forming a committee and designated Bro. Ricardo Z. Lumbre, Jr. to be its Chairman. Bro. Ric had labored for contacting, and advancing cash assistance to the orphans. These brethren on what they called “Stated Fellowships” started the ball rolling to put up a fund and got pledges worth P140,000.00. Due to this positive and humanitarian move, Gencom followed suit and on our last June 2nd Gencom meeting, those present voluntarily among themselves added another P61,000.00 in pledges making the fund receivables total to P201,000.00. This positive movement that perhaps at the present time is only happening in HL 88, Gencom through the leaderships of the WM Julito G. Sioson moved that the whole Memberships of HL-88 be requested to get involved by sharing to this fund. Gencom then approved the idea and recommended that Brethren be assessed a donation to be added to this Widows and Orphans Fund, the amount of which they will give in accordance to their circumstances in life. So far, three (3) Brn. had pledge 30 grand each, seven (7) pledged 10 grand each, five (5) pledged 5 grand each, two (2) pledged 3 grand each. So, those Hiramites who can give in the bracket as above written, it will be gladly receive and you will do it in a Masonic way, that only the GAOTU will know of your measure, although this will be properly receipted. All other Members are requested to pledge One (1) grand each. Brethren this fund will be deposited at a separate account in the name of Hiram Lodge 88, signatories of which is the same Lodge Officers’ signatories. The Committee headed by Bro.Ric Lumbre will recommend on its discretion using the Almoner’s right to decide the assistance given, then request to the Lodge’s Officers for their signature in the withdrawal. All of this implementation will be properly reported and reflected in the Treasurers monthly report. Bro. Hiramites, what a good idea! I am sold to this plan. I for my humble self is pledging my two months honorarium for this project. Brethren, please send-in your donation to this fund. Those who already made the pledges, we are now awaiting your remittances and for the other Members Gencom peg the date of your donation be felt on or before the end of October 2010. ON OUR WORKINGS: Although we are on our average rating regarding floor works, still there is a lot of avenue for improvement. I suggest that we have a practice at least once for all the incumbent Officers. Of course, all Officers must memorize the parts of their stations, as this we can not teach. But the floor works, this we have to execute it right being one considered as a prime lodge of our district. I have heard that HL-88 is being mentioned in other Lodges by some District Officer worth emulating in our Lodge Decorum. So if we are good in our decorum which we have started 2 to 3 years ago, we have also to be good in our floor works and delivery of our parts in the opening and closing the lodge, but especially in our conferring of Degrees. Brethren, we will call a practice date at a convenient time to all the incumbent officers. THE CUSTODIAN OF THE WORKS: Bro. Delfin G. Torres, Jr. is performing good and was doing effective work. But I think we must officially assign an assistant in case of his absence, and this must be always the newly raised Hiramites. Last June 4rth SM, on the following early morning, I and VW Raymond W. Lee went back to GLP on our way to the Shriners’ parade in Antipolo City, because he left his Constitution Book there the previous night. When we arrive at the hall we met the previous evening, the HL88 Officers’ and altar table cloth were still there, the Holy Bible, the Koran, and the Square and Compass. But when I left the hall after the SM to guide somebody to keep our Sound System. I saw the Petitioners were collecting our paraphernalia. I found out later, that there was no single MM guiding them, and they don’t know which are the things to place in the bag and which are not. So there is a need of an assistant Custodian of the work who will be responsible to collect and keep our paraphernalia in the absence of Bro. Delfin G. Torres, Jr. THE NEXT SM: HL 88 next SM will be on July 2, 2010. Lodge at exactly at 5:00PM Come early to partake the snacks by 4:30PM. Officers, Members, and Visiting Brethren must be seated in the lodge properly cloth by 5PM. Please be guided and govern yourself accordingly. WB JULLIO M.
