Antonio Chua Chua,

SECRETARY’S JUNE  2010 MESSAGE

HL-88 met early at 4PM this SM because of the scheduled GLI installation and Ribbon Cutting in the new HL-88 office. Even the scheduled initiation and other topics for discussion were cancelled to give way to this most important day in the history of Hiram Lodge. MW & Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno, PGM was invited to cut the Ribbon and Rev. & VW Samuel P. Fernandez, PGL historian for officiating the blessing.

HL-88 OFFICE RIBBON CUTTING: The Ribbon Cutting was officiated by Rev. and VW Samuel P. Fernandez, PGL historian. The ribbon cutting done by MW and Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno, PGM of which the same office was dedicated to him in his honor. After the officiating and ribbon cutting VW Raymond Lee throws and scattered 25 cents, 1 peso, and 5 peso coins to the satisfaction of the brethren. There were about 50 brethren assembled in the ribbon cutting. After the blessing the WM addressed the brethren saying at last HL-88 has its own office and he was very glad this happens in his incumbency, a work of the present Hiramites for the glory of the future Hiramites generation. He was followed by yours truly, who informed the brethren of the full story of how we were able to luckily get the place in the guise of assisting the MW GM Peter Lim Lo Suy in his improvement of the GLP BLDG, but with the intention of requesting the Security Guard’s quarter to become our office which was now realized. The cost of improvement in the back 3rd floor and mezzanine cost us 396 Grand, and another 90 Grand for all purchases made consisting of Aircon, furniture, electric fan, water dispenser, coffee percolator and coffee cart and other supplies. The big mirror was donated by Bro. Vincent See, and the Brass name plate in the door was donated by Bro. Anthony Sarangay.

Lastly MW & Justice Rey Puno, PGM spoke. He was very happy for HL 88 for having this beautiful office, and he praised the brethren who work for its realization. He said this made Hiram Lodge No. 88 more distinctive and successful, compared to other Lodges meeting at the GLP. He advised the brethren to continue maintaining it as long as we can. He thanked the Hiramites for naming the office in his honor and this happiness was even expressed by his donation of 100 Grand as his contribution to the expenses incurred by the Lodge. He called on the other qualified generous Hiramites to follow suit to make their donation to the construction of this office, so that the money spent could be refunded back to our HL88 General Funds. We look forward then to the forthcoming donation of some well established Hiramites to follow suit with the MW and Chief Justice Rey Puno, PGM.

FELLOWSHIPS AT CENTURY PARK HOTEL SEAFOODS RESTAURANT:  Due to the meeting de avance of presidential candidates, it took more than 1 hour before the brethren had reached and assembled at the Century Park. There were 5 tables on that fellowships who partake a very sumptuous foods, drinking a class whisky on all tables that brought the brethren to cloud nine, as the epitome of the HL88 office Christening. This is a historic night that could be written and placed in the archives of the Lodge never to be forgotten by the future generation of Hiramites. They should remember that this time, the present Hiramite generation worked so much for the betterment and success of HL-88 that was only made possible because of the long prevailing harmony in the lodge. Let us keep it up brethren!!!

THE HL-88 YEARLY OUTING: Last May 16, 2010 HL-88 had its yearly family outing at Pililla, Rizal at the place or resort of the WM Julito G. Sioson. The number of families that went were not as many as that of the previous years, but the ambiance was no. 1 of all of the past outings as we were entertained in an Air-conditioned place where all the baptismal and wedding parties, and family reunions in the town of Pililla and its neighboring towns were being held. In it was provided with a very good sound system came from our very own Bro. Carlo Concepcion, the “suki” of sound system services on many Masonic functions. The place has its swimming pool well enough for adults and a pool with water falls for the children. The vicinity of the pool has its covered tables complete with all its amenities of a 1st class reception. It is definitely private, that only our cars were parked on its sprawling parking place.

The food was all prepared from the morning snacks of “dinuguang baka, pancit, puto, and fresh coconut buko”. During lunch, there were so many biands of different dishes, toping them all with a very BIG LITSON BAKA. Oh! What a big party that was! And the brethren, ladies, and children were all so relaxed as the whole big place was air-conditioned. There were even complete waiters and waitresses serving the Hiramites, Ladies, and all.

The games prepared for the children and adults were superb that gave laughter and happiness to all, whose winners received prizes in cash contributed by the Hiramites present which even had a surplus of P2 Grand that went to the WM’s Fund.

The Awarding of Plaques and Prizes to Honorees and Graduates of Hiramite Siblings for the 22nd Year was given to the recipients who for the first time include a Magna Cum Laude in B. S. in Computer Science, the son of the JW who received a P5,000 pesos prize from the father of Hiramites Awards, WB Juan C. Go, PM.

As the foods prepared by the WM and other brethren were so plenty, almost every family went home with a “Viand ballot-balot”. The spiritual drinks were plenty & un-consumable that Hiramites failed for the 1st time to empty it. In summary, the party was a great success, in all aspects, food, drinks, games, prizes, and awarding of Plaques to Honorees and Graduates. All families of Hiramites are looking forward for the next year.

The Families of Hiramites thanked the WM Julito Sioson, and Sister Nelma for their excellent and “over na over na preparation”. We also admired the presence of your parents. To both of you and Jun Sioson, we thank you all!

FIRST DEGREE INITIATION: Mr. Fortunato G. Sioson & Jason M. Saldua will be initiated on our June 4, 2010 SM. All Officers must do their parts. Other assigned brethren, please look your name in the “Working Portion” of this Newsletter.

THE JUNE 4, 2010 SM: We will open the Lodge at exactly 5:00PM Come early to partake the snacks by 4:30PM. Officers, Members, and Visiting Brethren must be seated in the lodge properly cloth by 4PM.  Please be guided and govern yourself accordingly.
